Lost in all the confusion was the impressive effort put forth by Seattle starter Doug Fister who went the distance yet suffered his ninth loss of the campaign. Fister allowed six hits and just the one run, while striking out seven in the hard-luck loss.

 

Mat Latos will step up and take the ball for the Padres in the series finale this afternoon. Already 0-1 this season versus Seattle and 1-1 for his career, Latos gained just enough run support on Monday to earn his fifth win of the campaign.

Weaver, who now leads the AL in ERA with a mark of 1.92, was speaking of Vernon Wells who contributed with a two-run home run, as well as Erick Aybar and Bobby Abreu who also both plated a pair for the victors.

 

Andre Ethier accounted for two of the five hits by the Dodgers, while James Loney scored the lone run for the visitors in the fifth inning.

 

Anxious to get his season on track, right-hander Ervin Santana is set to take the ball for the Angels tonight in the series finale. Santana, who was a career-best 17-10 a season ago, has but three wins in 11 decisions in 2011.

 

Santana, who hasn't won since May 25, has a record of 3-3 to go along with a 3.93 ERA in six career games versus the Dodgers.

 

Countering for Los Angeles this time around is right-hander Chad Billingsley. Just 1-3 with a 4.28 ERA in his career versus the Angels, the six-year vet logged his seventh win of the season earlier this week as the Dodgers crushed Minnesota in a 15-0 decision.

 

Keeping the Dodgers relevant for the time being has been Matt Kemp who is ranked in the top-three in the NL in home runs (22), batting average (.327) and RBI (64).

American Idol Betting Odds: Season 6

"Blake Lewis should go far because of his uniqueness and looks.  He's the boy next store with a twist - he beat boxes.  But on top of this, he's a great singer, and I adore him," Payton O'Brien relayed.

A talented beat-boxer Blake Lewis was a hit during the group sing in Hollywood but Simon explained that this is a singing contest just before he told him he was “in.”

Paul Kim has caught our own roving reporter, Jenny Woo's eyes. 

"I love the fact that there is a Korean American on the show and he is bound to get more Asians tuning into the show," Woo said from her Miami Beach estate.  "There has never been a major presence of Asian-Americans on American Idol in the past.  He's a hottie with a nice voice so that should help to take him far.  Expect heavy betting action from the Asian community."
